Most dentistry looks like dentistry. Our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable. We replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.
If damage to a tooth is severe due to a fracture, a large or broken filling, discolored or undercalcified enamel, then a crown is an excellent option to repair that tooth and restore it back to its original condition. Drs. Klein and Rubinstein use the most esthetic materials as well as the highest quality dental labs to fabricate natural looking crowns that restore teeth back to their original strength and function.
A dental crown is a shell made out of porcelain or porcelain fused to metal that is cemented permanently over your own tooth and restores it back to its original strength and form. Crowns allow you to chew properly on a tooth and can easily last 10-20 years.
Fabrication of a crown requires at least two visits to Drs. Klein & Rubinstein office. On the first visit decay is removed, the tooth is shaped to fit a crown, impressions are taken and sent to the lab for crown fabrication. In the interim a temporary plastic crown is cemented onto the tooth.
On the subsequent visit the temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is fitted and adjusted. Finally the permanent crown is permanently cemented onto your natural tooth resulting in a beautiful as well as strong tooth.
A tooth with a large or cracked filling is very weak and susceptible to future cracking or fracture what eventually will result in tooth loss. Fabricating a crown on top of such a tooth will strengthen the tooth and prevent such damage.
Many people have unexplained pain when biting on a tooth which is usually due to a hairline crack in a tooth. If left untreated, a hairline fracture can progress to a complete fracture resulting in the loss of the tooth. Placement of a crown on a tooth with a hairline fracture will hold the tooth together and prevent the fracture from getting worse thereby saving the tooth.
Drs. Klein and Rubinstein office uses the latest dental materials to help assure exceptionally esthetic and natural looking crowns. Advances in materials used to fabricate crowns have come a long way and in many cases it is no longer necessary to use metal in crowns. New materials such as zirconia, an extremely strong porcelain material, allow for metal free crowns with exceptional esthetics without the grayness that can be seen from porcelain fused to metal crowns.
Crowns not only strengthen badly damaged tooth but can also be used to enhance esthetics of malpositioned, severely stained, or undercalcified (grey or chalky looking) teeth. Placing crowns over such teeth can create natural and highly esthetic results transforming your smile.
